Sinopse

At the instigation of the filmmakers, the young men of the Ile-aux-Coudres in the middle of the St-Lawrence River try as a memorial to their ancestors to revive the fishing of the belugas interrupted in 1924.

Os habitantes da Île-aux-Coudres cultivaram a pesca aos marsuínos no rio Saint Laurent até 1924. Instigados pelos cineastas Pierre Perrault e Michel Brault, os moradores da ilha retomam a pesca em 1962, buscando perpetuar a memória dessa prática ancestral. Primeiro longa-metragem de Pierre Perrault e um dos títulos mais importantes de sua filmografia, o filme foi selecionado para a competição oficial no Festival de Cannes de 1963.
